Simon Jones is the SCT Centre Manager and has joined us from Basildon Council where he managed the local authority’s leisure development team and more recently the business and marketing unit; a portfolio that covered Countryside, Sport & Leisure and the Arts.
His final duty over in Essex was to orchestrate the launch of Basildon’s new £36m state of the art “Sporting Village” in Gloucester Park. He has significant experience at running multi-agency projects in a variety of areas and in sourcing funding for new initiatives.
His expertise in facility management combined with a background in development and marketing has been fundamental in getting SCT up and ready for action. He says he’s met some fantastic people across Thamesmead and now that the doors are well and truly open is enjoying getting stuck in and welcoming the hundreds of people coming through the doors every week.
Dan Wells, our Sports Development Worker, comes to SCT with a wealth of knowledge in community partnership working and the delivery of activities. He is already busy working with local schools to deliver a wide range of activities including football coaching sessions on the sports field and a range of classroom activities too.
His post is jointly-funded by Trust Thamesmead, Charlton Athletic Community Trust and the Football Foundation.
